I got an opportunity to do an informal walk-through of Southwest Regional yesterday with Alice Sharpe, Durham Library Foundation’s development officer. Oh my goodness! It’s amazing! I think library customers will think the wait has definitely been worth it. Many Southwest Regional staff are over there, busily putting up books and getting their areas organized. Workers were there drilling holes for self-check stations and our tech staff were installing and setting up computers. It’s a veritable hive of activity. And it’s opening May 24 — so soon! I can’t wait until Southwest customers see their “new” library. And soon after, South Regional will open. Plus Summer Reading’s right around the corner? How cool!
